I am almost 7 months pregnant and all I’m craving is an Acai bowl! It’s delicious, and easy to make without breaking the bank.

When I lived in New Brunswick, I would spend $15 on an Acai bowl almost every week. It was my (not so) guilty pleasure. My go to toppings were granola, strawberries, blueberries and a crap load of Nutella (girl’s got to have some chocolate right?). Ever since I moved to Westfield, these purchases became limited because owning a house is not cheap! With the insane costs of maintaining a 200 year old home, I had to find a cheaper alternative to my cravings. With the help of a Trader Joe’s close by, and Pinterest, I found and tweaked a recipe to my liking.
Ingredients –
- 1 packet frozen acai puree
- 1/4 cup frozen strawberries
- 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/4 cup milk (I go with whole milk since I have that at home for Lyla)
- 1/4 cup non fat vanilla greek yogurt
- 3/4 tsp sugar (or honey if you prefer)
Toppings –
- 1/3 cup granola
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 1/4 cup sliced strawberries
- 1 tbsp Nutella
- 2 tbsp shredded coconut
Blend the ingredients together – it’s THAT easy! You can use any toppings your heart desires – I stuck with whatever I have lying around the house! A little tip, have your toppings ready before blending in the ingredients because the acai smoothie can start melting by the time you’d want to devour it. Hope you enjoy it as much as my pregnant self does!
